Please vote for a dress

I need a dress to wear to the wedding in Jamaica (stepbrother -- second wedding = more casual). I think, hurricanes withstanding, it'll be on some type of pier/beach area. I'd like to get a dress that 1. shows off my new shape/size, that is what WILL be my size four weeks from now.  2. I am likely to wear it again.

Okay! I DEFINITELY vote for the JCrew dress though i'd maybe suggest one of the strapless styles which always show of arms and chests wonderfully which you now have. They have some on KILLER sale right now so maybe check it out. The other ones are frillier which mean you can't wear them as much. This one you can wear with a cardigan for business/workish or with hot heels and fun earrings for a wedding/dinner out with the hubby. Just my two cents:)

Also, I too am a Phit and Phat gal but am a bit distraught. This week (since Sunday) I have been 100% on WW plan point wise, doing cardio every morning (either running or spinning) and then following the lifting schedule and i'm up TWO lbs so far. Do you think this could just be my body fluctuating or would you suggest increasing protein more? What have your discoveries been? Thanks!!! Ashley

I vote for the J-Crew dress as well or the Maggy London (you look great in halters). The first one is "cute", but it's not sexy, hot and fabulous, like you. I agree with the previous comment, the others are too frilly, frou-frou.

  4. In my opinion, the bloomingdales in the green is gorgeous. But I love halters.

  5. Go with whatever, but #1 is BY FAR my fav! Cute details and not too dressy that I think you could get a lot of mileage out of it.

  6. I am new to the blog and just had to comment on this post... out of the 4 *definitely* the JCrew Daisy! But I also love the Lydia and the Camilla... both are beachy too and would look fab on your little new shape! ;)

Off to read more about you!

  7. I vote for the J Crew as well! It would really show off your arms, shoulders and back and the practical side of me sees you getting a lot more use out of it than the other more "party" style dresses. Be sure to let us know your decision. BTW, the black one is cute but nothing special. Black has gotten so boring and predictable .... go with the colors!

  8. Hi Heather, found you through katieo. I love all the dresses, but the JCrew one is the best, especially if it's going to be less casual and on a beach. They are all pretty though!

  9. LOL I would say NO to the JCrew... side view even on the model makes her look like she could be 6 months pregs!!!

I have to say I STRONGLY favor #4.

I fear the #1 black (although I like it) could add excess weight to the top.

I am judging these based on your sentiment to show off your new shape as my top priority.

  10. i am new to your blog and loving it. I love the #2 dress. Totally suits an outdoor wedding and the colour is amazing.

  11. I like #3 best. The J Crew one is made of cotton so it will probably look stiff and not very fitted, because it's not custom-made or anything. Not that I've ever had anything custom-made, but generally stiff fabrics emphasize that it was off-the-rack and it can be really tricky to find one that fits your body, especially if you're ordering online.

  12. Awesome, thanks everyone. I'm not sure I got consensus, but I appreciate the points about the frilly, excess fabric and side-shot of the orange dress. The fact that it has pockets also worries me...

    I'm tempted to:

    1. wait for Boden to come in with new stuff. If you haven't checked out their stuff, it's AMAZING. More sass than J.Crew. www.bodenusa.com

    2. Having my existing cotton cady dress from J.Crew (circa 2004) altered two sizes (! rockin!) to fit. The seamstress I use is THE J.Crew seamstress in SF, so she basically kicks ass. But it has a higher neck (shift shape) and look, I bought it when I was two sizes bigger, it's not UN-flattering, but it's not show-off. But it's family-appropriate. Know what I mean? I got big boobs. I don't want to show off THOSE goods. :)

    3. Wait for J.Crew to come in with better stuff.

    4. Hit up the J.Crew, Gap outlets a mere 30 miles from my house to peruse the aisles.

  13. Here's my thoughts: The black is awesome and you will totally wear it again BUT - black for Jamaica????

I really love the orange/yellow J Crew!! So cute and perfect color for islandy-ness.

Don't really like the bloomie one - glittery stuff on belt doesnt' do it for me.

    Keep us posted.

  16. Oooo, I didn't think about the Jamaica thing...I'd go for color...

  17. Oh dude we should go to Nordstrom Rack when you get here!

  18. The J. Crew dress wins hands down! And the orange is awesome!

Second choice would be number 3.. that looks completely flattering. Good luck!

  19. #1- totally cute and sassy style, perfect for someone who is full-on crazy. color, yeahup, black not so much. but this is my fav

    #2- not crazy about

#3- better, but still not crazy about

#4- have to say, this would have to be my pick. it's close on cute and sassy and the color is good for Jamaica...and a wedding.

but #1 is soooo cute! If I were you I would totally have to buy #1 and 4, and wear #1 at some point!
